History Of Chamba Chappal:-
These are handcrafted leather-made chappals (slippers) that come in natural leather as well as other colors. Chamba chappals (slippers) are a tradition that date back to the times of king Sahil Verman (in the early ninth Century). When he got married to the princess of Noorpur, the chappal (slipper) makers or cobblers came along with tailors and make-up artists as dowry to be of service to the queen and the kingdom. It is said that before that time, the people of Chamba only wore crude grass shoes. For a long time, these were worn by kings and queens only. But it was after the British popularized it and protected the art that it became a product of public use (as told by a SHGs Groups). SHG’s have a dozens verity of the product . The designs on these Chappals consist of Leaves and flowers , Variety of flowers adorned attracts a lot. The work of making Chamba chappals is being done since the time of Chamba princely state.
